DETROIT – Two-time All-Star, Triple Crown winner, 2x AL ERA Leader, now 2x AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal keeps adding to his list of impressive accolades.
Skubal finished an incredible 2025 season with a 13-6 record, a 2.21 ERA (Earned run average), and an 0.89 WHIP (Walks + Hits/Innings pitched) with a dominant 241 strikeouts in 195.1 innings pitched.

He finished with 26/30 first place votes, the remaining four votes going to runner-up Garrett Crochet of the Boston Red Sox.
Notable outings this year include:
- Complete-game shutout of the Cleveland Guardians on May 25, including no walks and 13 strikeouts (Important to add his final pitch of the game, pitch no. 94, was a 102.6 MPH fastball, the fastest pitch of his career).
- June 29’s 7-inning outing vs. Minnesota Twins when he surrendered one walk and struck out 13.
Although Cy Young voting takes place before the postseason, I feel it is important to highlight two of his postseason performances when reflecting on his dominant season:
- Sep 30th’s 7.2 innings pitched vs. Cleveland Guardians when he struck out 14.
- Oct 10th’s 6 innings pitched vs. Seattle Mariners when he struck out 13.
Skubal posted a 1.74 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 20.2 innings pitched during the 2025 postseason, further asserting his dominance and best-pitcher-on-the-planet label.
2026 is his final season of arbitration control with the Tigers, and there is plenty of buzz surrounding what the Tigers will offer him, or if he will be wearing a different uniform in the upcoming season.
Here’s to hoping he stays a Tiger for a long, long time.
