Derick is the Digital Executive Producer for ClickOnDetroit and has been with Local 4 News since April 2013. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in communications and a focus in journalism. Derick has managed the web team since August 2024,  specializing in breaking news, crime, and local sports.

Derick was part of the team that won a 2019 McCree Award for the Advancement of Justice in journalism and a 2024 Michigan Association of Broadcasting digital excellence award. He has worked on major cases such as the Crumbley trials, the disappearance of Danielle Stislicki, and Richard Wershe's fight for freedom.
