HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - If the Academy Awards cast a mob movie, it would probably look a lot like "The Irishman." The official trailer has dropped and expands on the teaser trailer released in July. De Niro stars as mob hitman Frank Sheeran who becomes entangled in the disappearance of labor leader Jimmy Hoffa, played by Pacino. In the new trailer Sheeran is seen being questioned by his attorney Bill Bufalino, played by Ray Romano, which allows for some flashbacks on his murderous deeds. The Netflix film reunites director Scorsese with frequent collaborators De Niro and Pesci who have all worked together on various projects, including the iconic mob film "Goodfellas."

The first real look at "The Irishman," director Martin Scorseses film on organized crime and the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa, was released on Wednesday. The film is due out on Netflix this fall. Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics. But many believe Hoffa also could have been involved in another of the era’s great mysteries—the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. While the Warren Commission concluded that Oswald acted alone, the House Committee believed Oswald likely plotted with others. “I was the first to allege that Hoffa, [Carlos] Marcello, and [Santos] Trafficante had arranged and executed the President’s murder,” said Dan Moldea, author of The Hoffa Wars. Walter Sheridan, a former FBI agent and Robert Kennedy aid during the Hoffa investigations, also believed Oswald was a lone gunman. It’s a historical fact.’”However, the committee never tied Hoffa or anyone else to Oswald and the assassination.

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – Soil samples taken from a Roseville backyard in connection with a search for the remains of Jimmy Hoffa show no sign of the presence of human remains. Investigators pulled the samples Friday acting on a tip that the remains of the missing Teamsters boss Hoffa could be buried beneath a slab of concrete. Hoffa was last seen July 30, 1975, outside a restaurant in Oakland County, more than 30 miles to the west. The day he disappeared, Hoffa was supposed to meet with a New Jersey Teamsters boss and a Detroit mafia captain. The tipster said he wasn't in the mafia himself, but ran with bookies -- one of whom allegedly lived in the Roseville home in 1975.
