And it's asking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to include the availability of an emergency response guide when it calculates five-star vehicle safety scores. The NTSB started investigating battery fires after crashes and fires in Lake Forest and Mountain View, California, and in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, in 2017 and 2018.

But one man in California went a step further and was lucky enough to get a birds-eye view of Disneyland Resort without pixie dust, a magic carpet or a lucky feather. In a plea agreement, Kasbar acknowledged that he broke into the zoo, cut a hole in an enclosure and took 32-year-old Isaac, the oldest captive ring-tailed lemur in North America. The animal was placed in a container with no ventilation and later abandoned at a hotel with notes identifying it as having been taken from the zoo.

(CNN) - After several months at large, an emu in North Carolina was found -- but the bird died during an attempt to capture and relocate it to a sanctuary, Orange County Animal Services said Thursday. The emu, whom Orange County workers had dubbed Eno, was known for popping up in front yards throughout central North Carolina since June. Despite widespread publicity, no one came forward to claim ownership of the bird, according to Orange County Animal Services spokesperson Tenille Fox. Every time Orange County Animal Services got a call about an Eno sighting, the department would send staff to track the bird down. Orange County Animal Services fed and cared for Eno for weeks and consulted with outside experts to come up with a capture plan.

(CNN) - As a young Texas couple were leaving the courthouse for their wedding ceremony, their car collided with a pickup truck, killing both of them, according to CNN affiliate KFDM. Harley Morgan, 19, and Rhiannon Boudreaux, 20, were merging onto Highway 87 in Orange, Texas when the accident occurred. The pickup truck was towing a trailer loaded with a tractor, according to a statement from the Orange Police Department. The newlyweds were leaving an Orange County Justice of the Peace precinct after their marriage ceremony, Lt. Gary Keaton, a spokesman for the department said. Orange County is in the Beaumont-Port Arthur region of southeastern Texas.

The skittish bird looks like a creature out of prehistoric times, but it's popping up now in people's front yards in central North Carolina. An emu that Orange County workers have dubbed Eno has been on the lam for at least five weeks, traveling back and forth between Orange and Chatham counties. Several sentinel chickens tested positive for EEE, which can spread to humans via infected mosquitoes and cause brain infection and swelling, the Florida Department of Health in Orange County said in a Thursday statement. Sentinel chickens are fowl that are tested regularly for the West Nile virus and EEE. Following the positive tests for the sentinel chickens in Orange County, the health department said "the risk of transmission to humans has increased." Only about seven cases of the EEE virus in humans are reported in the US each year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.

(CNN) - Think twice before petting a stray animal at Florida's Disney World Resort. The Florida Department of Health in Orange County issued a rabies alert Tuesday after a cat that was found near the Epcot theme park tested positive for the disease. The feral animal was discovered near Epcot Center Drive and Interstate 4, just east of the park. "This alert should not give a false sense of security to areas that have not been named under this alert," the statement warned. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that rabies can be fatal, but it is preventable.
