If you live in a part of the country where you experience all four seasons then you’re pretty used to snowplows cleaning up the streets of your town when mother nature decides to dump inches of snow on the ground.

The city of Detroit has extended the deadline for contracted crews to remove snow from the streets, due to the way the Wednesday-Thursday snowstorm played out.

There are a lot of plow trucks still out clearing residential streets throughout Metro Detroit. But what do you do if you’re not sure when or if plow trucks may reach your neighborhood?

All is quiet in the Monroe plow shed, but they will soon start putting the blades on within the next few minutes. Some trucks were salting the streets as they waited for temperatures to drop when rain turns into ice.

A snowstorm that’s expected to arrive later this week could be Metro Detroit’s biggest snowstorm in seven years.

Road commissions in Metro Detroit are mobilizing to deal with what is likely going to be some sloppy road conditions.

A pickup truck driver is in critical condition after colliding with a snowplow in Macomb Township, officials said.

DETROIT – The Michigan Department of Transportation announced Sunday it will start naming its snowplows to add a personal touch to the Mi Drive map. To see each snowplow’s name, visit the Mi Drive map here and activate the MDOT snowplow tracker map layer. Current snowplow names were chosen from hundreds of suggestions and include Plowasaurus Rex, Winter Snowdier, Sir Salts-A-Lot, Snowboni and -- of course -- Plowy McPlowface.
