The majority of the system looks to be snow, but as the temperature warms into the mid-to-upper 30s, we may see some rain showers mixed in with it, especially along and south of Interstate 696.
Snow leaves, but cold temperatures stay at least one more day. It will be cold once again overnight, with lows around 13 degrees. The wind will be lighter Thursday night, so wind chills will not be as cold Friday morning.
Snow squalls will continue to reduce visibility and make travel dangerous across Southeast Lower Michigan.
Blustery cold temperatures are expected across Metro Detroit this week, and some accumulating snow is possible Wednesday night.
Saturday night will be cloudy with light snow showers winding down. Low temperatures will be around 20 degrees, and overnight wind chill values will dip as low as the single digits in some communities away from Detroit.
After colder temperatures the past few days, we are dealing with our first taste of winter weather, which is moving through the region for the holiday weekend and bringing snow showers for just about everybody.
Black Friday shoppers will want to bundle up or buy a coat. Snow showers will be numerous in some areas throughout the day, while other parts of Southeast Michigan will see little snow.
Wednesday night into Thursday morning, a very strong area of low pressure brings a chance of rain mixed with some wet snow, especially in the early morning hours.
Say it ain’t snow! Some people may welcome Metro Detroit’s first sighting of snow, while others may prefer it to wait. The forecast calls for periods of wet snow on Wednesday night and Thursday.
Metro Airport last reported a day with clear skies on Nov. 8. The region last had a day of partly cloudy skies on Wednesday. Apart from partly cloudy skies on Monday, Southeast Michigan will have a stretch of cloudy, rainy and windy weather.
Saturday, people in some communities will wake up to patchy fog and mist. Otherwise, we will have a mix of sunshine and clouds with highs in the lower 50s. Winds will be out of the south-southwest around 5 mph.
Showers are tapering off, but the clouds aren’t going anywhere yet. Friday will be dry, but a few showers could develop off the lake in the Thumb. Highs Friday will get to around 52 degrees.
The Climate Prediction Center’s eight to 14-day temperature outlook keeps portions of the Great Lakes, including Michigan, and a trend for above-average temperatures.
After lots of sunshine and seasonable temperatures throughout Tuesday, dry weather is forecast for the middle of the week before our next chance of rain moves in by the time we look ahead to the second half of the week.
Monday, or Veterans Day, will be breezy with a mix of sunshine and clouds. If attending a morning ceremony, plan for temperatures in the lower 50s in Metro Detroit.
Sunday morning, sometime before daybreak, rain arrives and continues into the late morning, possibly early afternoon. It should taper off later in the day and leave us with a nice setup for Veterans Day.
While a couple of showers will be possible Tuesday morning, most of Southeast Michigan is expected to stay dry until the evening. The chance of showers will increase after 7 p.m. as a cold front moves across Southeast Michigan.
With temperatures that peaked in the lower to mid 50s on Friday afternoon. It was 20 to 25 degrees cooler than Halloween, but highs were back to normal. It is also less windy, but there is still a light breeze.
The “temperature seesaw” saw temperatures around 80 degrees last Monday (Oct. 21). During the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 27, much of Southeast Michigan had temperatures in the 20s. Within the next couple of days, highs will be the 70s again.
Clear skies and cold temperatures are expected, with patchy frost. After some sunshine and more fall-like temperatures throughout the day on Thursday, we’ve got a wet end of the week, with rain showers moving across the region.
Sunshine from now until next week sums it all up. Temps climb to normal Friday, then above normal until next Thursday. Our next chance for rain is an outside shot Tuesday night.
Showers and a few thunderstorms will impact Metro Detroit on Saturday evening and night. Thunderstorms will be capable of heavy rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph as they move east at 40 mph.
The first frost of the season arrives in Lapeer and Genesee counties overnight, and a Frost Advisory is in effect.
Sunday night will be partly cloudy, breezy, and cool. As a cooler air mass slides over Southeast Michigan, the temperatures will tumble into the upper 40s near Detroit and around 40 degrees in the Thumb. Winds will be out of the northwest at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Saturday night will be mostly clear, which will give some communities of Southeast Michigan the chance to see the northern lights. Lows will be near 60 degrees in Detroit, upper 50s in Brighton, Ann Arbor, Flint, and Sterling Heights. Lows will fall down into the mid 50s in the Thumb.
Expect clouds in the morning and maybe an isolated sprinkle, especially north of I-69. Otherwise, it will become partly cloudy in the afternoon, with a high of around 72 degrees.
While Wednesday will be several degrees cooler than Tuesday in Metro Detroit, temperatures will be normal. The sunshine will also make it feel wonderful outdoors.
Temperatures will be cooler behind the cold front moving through Monday night, only heading into the 60s by Wednesday afternoon.
Tuesday afternoon, showers will develop along and ahead of a cold front as it advances eastward. A rumble of thunder is possible. The best chance of showers will be between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. That means that you might encounter some raindrops during the Tigers watch party at Comerica Park.
Tuesday morning will begin with areas of fog across Southeast Michigan, which will reduce visibility and potentially slow the commute. During the afternoon, showers will develop along and ahead of a cold front as it advances eastward.
Saturday night will be cloudy with a few showers in the region. There will be areas of patchy fog and mist through the night. Lows will be 60 to 65 degrees with the cooler temperatures in the Thumb and the higher temperatures around Detroit. Winds will be out of the northeast at 5 to 10 mph. Gusts will be up to 20 mph.
As this storm works up through the southeastern United States and into the Ohio and Mississippi Valley, we will see an increase in cloud cover through the end of the week and into the upcoming weekend.
We’re tracking a few storms just south of the Michigan/Ohio border. One cell west of Sandusky generated a Tornado Warning around 4 p.m., although this was radar-indicated and not confirmed.
After lots of sunshine for most of Friday, clouds have rolled into the region, and we are watching the radar for a few showers or an isolated thunderstorm throughout the evening hours Friday night.
The dry weather continues for yet another day across the region, but some rain showers are back in the forecast for Friday, the end of the week.
Our stretch of dry, warm weather extends summer but could also affect the beauty of our Michigan fall season.
We had an outside shot at a stray shower Wednesday, but Monday’s data just doesn’t support it. It looks like we might see some high, thin clouds but no moisture to water our lawns.
Southeast Michigan will have a pleasant night. Temperatures will fall to the lower 60s, except for lows in the mid to upper 50s in the Thumb and Ann Arbor. Skies will be mostly clear, but there is a chance of patchy fog developing overnight.
Our stretch of super dry weather continues until next week and possibly longer. The long-range temperature outlook also keeps us feeling more like mid-summer than approaching fall.
Warmth and above-average temperatures are the name of the game around southeast Michigan, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
Southeast Michigan will have partly cloudy to mostly clear skies on Monday night, but patchy fog will develop and potentially impact travel. The fog could become dense in some communities and reduce visibility to a quarter-mile or less.
Saturday starts out quite cool and doesn’t really warm up very much. It will also be a bit breezy, adding to the fall-like chill in the air. Highs will be in the low 60s.
Friday morning will begin with rain showers and the chance of a thunderstorm in Southeast Michigan. Take a rain jacket and umbrella, and allow extra time for your commute. The shower activity should wind down during the afternoon.
