Until 11 p.m. on Friday, March 5, pet parents around Ann Arbor can submit photos of their favorite furry companion. Submit your favorite pet photo. Pet names will be displayed with their photos, and pet parents can also leave a small blurb about their pet. Submissions are free but community members can help their favorite pet move up in the ranks by buying votes.
Zingerman’s 6th annual fundraiser to benefit SafeHouse goes virtual amid pandemic
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Zingerman’s Community of Businesses is hosting a virtual dinner Tuesday night to wrap up a month-long fundraiser benefiting SafeHouse Center. The sixth annual Jelly Bean Jump Up will feature a three course meal from Zingerman’s Roadhouse, which participants can order online and pick up before the event. The Jelly Bean Jump Up will take place 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funds raised from Jelly Bean Jump Up will benefit Ann Arbor’s SafeHouse Center, who serves domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in Washtenaw County. Zingerman’s Cornman Farms to host weekly Pie & Mash pop-up series in March
Zingerman's Cornman Farms will offer its annual Pie & Mash Pop-Up Shop every Wednesday in March. DEXTER, MIch. – Every Wednesday in March, Ann Arbor foodies can pick up savory pies from the fifth annual Pie & Mash Pop-Up Shop at Zingerman’s Cornman Farms. From 4:30 to 7 p.m., the pop-up will offer $19 meals created by Cornman Farms executive chef and managing partner, Kieron Hales. Each meal includes a savory handmade pie, mashed potatoes, a seasonal vegetable and Devon fudge, which Hales has whipped up with a recipe from his hometown. Meals must be pre-ordered through the Zingerman’s Cornman Farms website for pick up at the Dexter event venue, said the release.

‘We need help.’ Ann Arbor business owners sound alarm as winter approaches
ANN ARBOR – With no sign of the coronavirus pandemic slowing down in Michigan, business owners across the state are staring down a long and uncertain winter. According to Destination Ann Arbor, football weekends back in 2013 brought in more than $80 million from visitors alone for local hotels, restaurants and retail. A report in May by EntryPoint found that 97% of Ann Arbor businesses were impacted by the pandemic with 48% of those located in the downtown area. The downtown Ann Arbor store has taken numerous precautions to keep employees and customers safe. “If you pull Zingerman’s out of Ann Arbor, I’m not saying the town will fold up, but it will be a pretty impactful move.
Zingerman’s Mail Order looking to fill seasonal positions
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Zingerman’s Mail Order, the online arm of Zingerman’s Community of Businesses, is hiring. The company is looking for seasonal workers to fill 300 open positions at its warehouse. Base pay for the positions is $15.50 per hour and includes paid training, paid lunches, Zingerman’s discounts and discounted eye care at SEE. Work begins in October and will end around December 30th, 2020, according to the Zingerman’s jobs website. Available positions also include holiday kitchen staff, dishwashers and forklift operators.
Zingerman’s team up with Habitat for Humanity throughout October
ANN ARBOR – Zingerman’s Community of Businesses are collectively raising funds with special events and donation requests to help Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley throughout the month of October. For a decade, Zingerman’s Community of Businesses have supported Habitat’s mission by providing in-kind donations of products, financial support of home renovation work, engaging employees to volunteer on Habitat work sites and providing Zingerman’s partners to serve on the Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley (HHHV) Board of Directors. Additionally, many of Zingerman’s businesses will have a ‘donate to Habitat’ option on their websites, while Zingerman’s Deli will also include information on Habitat in takeout orders. Zingerman’s employees kicked off the October festivities with a volunteer build day at Habitat on Thursday, where employees worked at one of Habitat’s home renovation projects. The shop -- located at 710 Phoenix Drive, Ann Arbor -- will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Michigan restaurants push for federal funding package
DETROIT As restaurants struggle to weather the pandemic, some are calling for the passage of a measure co-sponsored by Michigan members of Congress that has stalled in the House amid tense negotiations about another stimulus funding package. Among those calling for the bills passage is Zingermans -- which has been a part of life in Ann Arbor since 1982. But the pandemic has rocked the landmark deli and its community of restaurants. Dingell was an early co-sponsor of the bill after being urged to back the bill by Weinzweig. As talks between the White House and Congressional Democrats and its unclear whether its part of the strained negotiations on a new stimulus package, as time for restaurants is running out.
