Most dangerous intersections in Monroe County -- here’s the new top 10

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – Officials have revealed the 10 most dangerous intersections in Monroe County, detailing the number of crashes, injuries, and deaths at each location in 2024.

Michigan Auto Law uses data from Michigan State Police to rank the most dangerous intersections in the state each year. On Monday, Nov. 17, the rankings from 2024 were revealed.

The intersection of I-275 and Telegraph Road in Ash Township has become Monroe County’s most dangerous intersection in 2024, with crash numbers doubling from the previous year.

Following that is the intersection of Telegraph and Stewart roads in Frenchtown Township. It saw 29 crashes in 2024, a slight increase from 28 in 2023.

Any road with a traffic signal, a four-way stop, or a roundabout qualifies as an intersection. Crashes within 200 feet count toward an intersection’s total.

#1 -- I-275 at Telegraph Road, Ash Township

  • 40 total crashes, one injury

#2 -- Telegraph Road at Stewart Road, Frenchtown Township

  • 29 total crashes, 11 injuries

#3 -- Cole Road at North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township

  • 24 total crashes, 10 injuries

#4 -- Telegraph Road at Custer Road, Monroe

  • 19 total crashes, seven injuries

#5 -- Elm Avenue at North Monroe Street, Monroe

  • 18 total crashes, five injuries

#6 -- Telegraph Road at Dunbar Road, Monroe Township

  • 16 total crashes, four injuries

#7 -- I-75 at Dixie Highway, Frenchtown Township

  • 14 total crashes, four injuries

#8 -- Mall Road at Telegraph Road, Frenchtown Township

  • 14 total crashes, four injuries

#9 -- Newport Road at Telegraph Road, Ash Township

  • 13 total crashes, five injuries

#10 -- Lewis Avenue at West Sterns Road, Bedford Township

  • 11 total crashes, three injuries
