What’s next for the jury in the Christopher Schurr trial?
The jury in the trial of former Grand Rapids police officer Christopher Schurr, charged with the death of Patrick Lyoya, remains deadlocked after approximately 20 hours of deliberation over three days. Despite being unable to reach a verdict, the judge has instructed the jury to continue deliberating. Outside the courthouse, tensions are high as supporters of both Schurr and Lyoya gather. The jury is considering charges of second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, or acquittal.
