Video: Drunk driver accused of leading police on high-speed chase in Warren with 9-year-old son in car

A 31-year-old Detroit man, Otez Coil, was arrested after allegedly driving drunk, leading Warren police on a high-speed chase, and crashing while his 9-year-old son was in the car. The chase began near Van Dyke and Civic Center Boulevard when officers spotted Coil speeding and making lane changes without signaling. He fled at speeds up to 80 mph before crashing into a guardrail at 11 Mile Road. After the crash, Coil held onto his son as officers approached. The boy was not hurt. Police found open alcohol bottles in the vehicle, and Coil faces multiple charges including child abuse, fleeing and eluding, and operating while intoxicated. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is scheduled for a court appearance on Jan. 2, 2026.
