Celebrating history through art

Detroit Gallery showcases Detroit Artists

With Black History Month wrapping up, it’s important to highlight the many contributions that have been made to Detroit. Jo’s Gallery highlights many Detroit Black artists by featuring their work.

“Jo is my mom, Joanne, and she was the founder of the gallery. We’ve been here since 1996. I represent our second generation. We are known for having unique things not available in big box stores,” said Garnette Archer, owner of Jo’s Gallery.

The store carries a number of artists and brands from Onzie Norman to Tanza Totes. The gallery hosts both local and international art.
