Elevate your entertaining this holiday season

Expert shares suggestions for taking your holiday hosting to the next level

You might already be getting invites to holiday parties or perhaps you’re even starting to plan your own get together. So, are you ready to elevate your entertaining this holiday season?

From stunning snack stations and delicious drink displays, there are so many ways to wow your guests. Arthur White of A&E Décor appeared on “Live In The D” to share some ideas.

Playing the role of host all starts when guests arrive at the door.

“As your guests are coming in, you may only have that one chance to have face-to-face time with them as the party is going on, but also you could offer them a drink just as they are coming in the door,” White said.

White shared that he likes to serve something sparkling, such as champagne or sparking juice or sparkling water. He said it sets the tone.

Another main part of a holiday party is the food, and you can make your party memorable based on how you serve it. White shared an example of serving a charcuterie board on a silver tray, instead of a wooden board. He said you can also use glass or stone.

“You want to do things that are colorful, that are going to be eye catching as folks are going through the buffet in line with their plates...” White said.

Sight, sound, and smell are other aspects to address for elevated entertaining.

“A lot of folks will sometimes use a candle, but they might use one candle. But I’ll use candles in all of the rooms to coordinate that fantastic smell all throughout the house. You will have your own signature scent,” White explained.

If you’re looking for more holiday entertaining ideas, White will be the moderator at the “Elevated Entertaining” expert panel at the Michigan Design Center in Troy on Friday, November 7th.
