4Warn Weather – A little snow, a lot of wind, and a blast of arctic air will move into Metro Detroit by later Wednesday evening.
Between now and 9 p.m., we will see a few scattered snow showers and a couple of snow squalls.
The majority of the heavier snow squalls will be between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Wednesday night.
Winds will cause some blowing snow and reduced visibility if you are caught in one of those short-lived squalls.
For most of the area, accumulations will be very light, from a trace to about an inch.
But where those squalls set up, there could be a couple more inches.
Thursday
Snow totals are not really the main focus here, but rather a combination of snow, wind, and falling temps.
Between 11 p.m. and Thursday morning, a few more snow showers and wind gusts over 35mph will be possible.
Thursday morning, windchills will be the main issue, as some areas could see readings below zero.
This could prompt a few school closures, although that is highly dependent on each district’s policy on windchills.
Regardless, it is going to be very cold for kids at the bus stop, especially those who need to walk to school.
Friday
Friday’s highs stay in the 20s but will be back to the 40s by early next week.
