ROSEVILLE, Mich. – Police have arrested some teenagers who carjacked an elderly woman at knifepoint before fleeing and hiding inside a Sam’s Club in Roseville.

The incident occurred on Monday (Nov. 24) at 1:30 p.m. near Masonic and Gratiot Avenue.

Police said an investigation revealed the juveniles approached two elderly women outside a local restaurant when at least one of the teens brandished an edged weapon and demanded keys from a 67-year-old woman.

Officials said the teen then entered the driver’s seat of her vehicle and fled.

Police said they quickly broadcast a description of the carjacked vehicle.

A Roseville officer said they spotted the vehicle northbound on Gratiot Avenue near the I-94 ramps.

Police said the vehicle fled briefly before crashing into an uninvolved citizen’s car at the northbound Gratiot Avenue exit from Sam’s Club.

No injuries were reported.

Police said the driver fled on foot but was swiftly arrested.

Officials said the other two suspects also fled on foot.

Police said one was caught after a foot pursuit by Roseville officers.

The final suspect fled into Sam’s Club, which was quickly surrounded by police.

Officials said they entered the store and conducted a dynamic search.

Within minutes, police said they located the suspect hiding in the men’s restroom and took him into custody without incident.

All three teens are currently lodged at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center awaiting charges.
