MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Security image showed a man holding an agent’s gun during his arrest in Macomb County.
Homeland Security said the man, who was an undocumented immigrant, assaulted a federal agent who was trying to arrest him.
Agents said they were following up on a tip that people in the country illegally were working as delivery drivers at the Sam’s Club near Hall Road and M-53 in Utica.
Homeland Security determined that one driver, identified as Arnoldo Marquez-Pulido, was living in the United States without legal status.
When agents tried to pull over his vehicle, prosecutors said, Marquez-Pulido drove away at high speed.
He later returned to Sam’s Club, where an agent tackled him outside, in front of customers.
Prosecutors said Marquez-Pulido fought with the agent, elbowing him in the cheek.
He then grabbed for the agent’s gun, briefly pulling a Glock 19 from its holster before losing control of it.
A security camera image released by authorities appears to show the gun in his hand.
Two agents suffered minor injuries in the scuffle, the Justice Department said.
Marquez-Pulido is charged with assaulting an officer, resisting and impeding, and a weapons charge.
