Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation announced on the arena’s website that warm temperatures are delaying the opening of the ice arena to Saturday, Nov. 19.

Officials wrote it is unlikely that COVID-19-positive employees were in close contact with general visitors to the pool.

“Due to staffing challenges and ongoing mechanical issues, staff will be altering the end of the summer schedule for the outdoor pools,” said the City of Ann Arbor in an emailed update.

Two of Ann Arbor's public pools are closing for the season on Sunday.

Starting June 14, capacity will be increased at Ann Arbor’s Buhr, Fuller and Veterans Memorial public pools, the city announced Friday.

Buhr, Fuller and Veterans Memorial pools will be updating their operating procedures for the summer following recent announcements from Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

Skaters enjoy Buhr Park Outdoor Ice Arena. ANN ARBOR – Spring officially kicks off on Monday and with the warmer weather comes the closure of the city’s only outdoor ice rink at Buhr Park. Meanwhile, Veterans Memorial Indoor Ice Arena has added some new skating timeslots. ANN ARBOR – The outdoor public pools at Fuller Park, Buhr Park and Veterans Memorial Park will be open this summer, the city of Ann Arbor announced in an email to its pool users on Tuesday. The city opened Fuller Park pool last summer at a very limited capacity for lap swimming to ensure social distancing while the Buhr and Vets pools remained closed. In order to provide safe programming this year, swim lessons and day camps will take place at designated pools. All three pools will be offering family spaces and lap lanes by reservation as well as bungee swimming opportunities at Fuller and Buhr. ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Veterans Memorial Park and Buhr Park ice arenas will reopen for limited operations this week, according to the City of Ann Arbor. Starting Wednesday, community members can register for instructional skating programs at the Veterans Memorial Park indoor arena. Open skate at the outdoor Buhr Park ice rink kicks off on Thursday. ANN ARBOR – The City of Ann Arbor announced Monday the Buhr Park and Veterans Park ice arenas will be closed effective immediately for three weeks, in accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' newest emergency order.
