Heat index values will soar back into the lower 100s through the end of the week with storm chances

High temperatures will soar to near 100° once again, with heat index values going well above the triple digit mark Thursday

High temperatures will climb into the upper 90s, while humidity will push heat index values between 105 and 110 degrees in many Southeast Michigan communities Thursday.

Metro Detroit will be sunny and hot before rain chances enter the forecast to finish the week.

An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect across all of Southeast Michigan through Thursday. Dangerously hot and humid conditions will lead to a heat index in excess of 105 degrees, while lows in the 70s provide little overnight relief from the heat.

Dangerous heat will remain the primary weather story across Southeast Michigan through the end of the workweek, with the National Weather Service continuing an Extreme Heat Warning through Thursday evening.

An Extreme Heat Watch has been issued for Tuesday through Thursday, when afternoon high temperatures are forecast to soar close to 100 degrees.
