Community remembers father killed trying to save pets from house fire in Clinton Township
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Friends and family came together Tuesday to remember a Clinton Township man who was killed trying to save his pets from a house fire. The fire broke out at about 3 a.m. Saturday at the mobile home on Enchante Drive near Hayes Road. Michelle Brooks described the moments when the fire erupted at the residence she shared with her fiancรฉ Kevin Hodges. Friends and family, including Hodgesโ brother and two daughters, gathered outside of the now-destroyed home Tuesday, which would have been his 57th birthday. And I donโt know if he realized how many people cared for him,โ said his daughter Hayley Hodges.
Rise in speeding drivers puts Macomb neighborhood children at risk, residents say
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Since the coronavirus pandemic began, one Metro Detroit neighborhood saw a dramatic rise in speeding vehicles. Drivers have used the Macomb Township neighborhood as a way to cut through, putting children and families at risk. โBut this feels like a main road.โLocal 4 Defenders set up a radar gun and caught drivers going way over the speed limit in the neighborhood filled with children. Residents said the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office was asked to patrol the area, but all they did was put up a device to track a vehicleโs speed. Since the Defenders began looking into the problem, the Sheriffโs Office reinstated the radar trailer in the subdivision to gather more data from speeders.
Police search for man in Shelby Township bank robbery
SHELBY TOWNSHIP โ Police are searching for a man in connection to a bank robbery in Shelby Township. Police responded to an alarm at about 1:24 p.m. on Monday at the PNC bank on Hayes Road. Police said the man then left the bank on foot after given an undetermined amount of money. The suspect was seen running south across Hall Road into Sterling Heights. Red Robin in Clinton Township closes after employees test positive for COVID-19
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. A Red Robin restaurant in Clinton Township closed after two employees tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Red Robin on Hall Road east of Hayes Road shut down Sunday and spent the last several days closed for cleaning. We received confirmation that two team members at our Clinton Township, Michigan, location tested positive for COVID-19, Red Robin said in a statement. On Thursday afternoon, the Macomb County Health Department said three employees have now tested positive for the coronavirus. Customer Sam Delia went to the Red Robin to meet an old friend and was disappointed to find he couldnt go inside.
Sterling Heights woman found dead after going missing for days
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Shelby Township police confirm the body of Ghaida Haddad was found Saturday. Haddadโs body was located Saturday at 12 p.m. on the west side of Hayes Road north of 21 Mile Road. Police say Haddad was found under a line of trees near a retention pond. Haddad, 51, went missing Dec. 27 around 2 p.m. after walking out of a Marshalls store in Shelby Township.
