Judge denies request to dismiss charges against Rick Snyder in Flint water crisis
FLINT, Mich. โ A judge on rejected a request to dismiss misdemeanor charges against Rick Snyder Thursday in the Flint water crisis. Because of that, they argue the case shouldnโt be heard in Genesee County. AdSnyderโs legal team is expected to file an appeal. What will likely happen is a higher court in Genesee County will likely hear the case and determine if it stays in Genesee County or if it moves to Ingham County. Rick Snyder are pushing to get the trial moved from Flint to Lansing. On Tuesday, lawyers clashed over whether Flint water indictment against former Gov. Rick Snyder was filed in the wrong county and should be dismissed. Defense attorney Brian Lennon says Snyderโs office was in Ingham County so an indictment in Genesee County doesnโt fit. Gretchen Whitmer testified before the U.S. Senate regarding what she said is a desperate need for federal funding to fix Michiganโs roads. โI was known for running on and getting elected to โfix the damn roadsโ in Michigan and I have to say that we need significant investments in our roads and bridges,โ Whitmer said. Feds: Wixom man was one of the most violent participants in siege on US Capitol
WIXOM, Mich. โ Michael Foy, the Wixom man charged with attacking a Capitol police officer at the pro-Trump riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6., was in court on Monday. A video from the violent riot at the U.S. Capitol Building shows a man using a hockey stick as a weapon to strike a police officer who had been knocked to the ground. That video is one piece of evidence that led FBI agents to a condo in Wixom and Foy. Federal prosecutors said the officerโs body camera shows Foy using a hockey stick to strike the officer in his head, face, neck and body. The hockey stick police said was used in the attack was found in Foyโs condo.
Metro Detroit woman regains hearing after 50 years with new device
DETROIT โ Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit has been at the forefront of a lot of different kinds of surgery and medical treatment. One in particular is called piezoelectric sound conduction, which is a new electronic way to help those with hearing loss and restore full hearing. Holland grew up in Roseville, and at age 12, she needed a growth inside her ear surgically removed. That meant the loss of the hearing structures inside her left ear. The device also connects to Bluetooth, which Holland can answer the phone and no one else can hear.
