DETROIT – Officials have identified the 10 most dangerous intersections in Detroit, detailing the number of crashes, injuries, and deaths at each location in 2024.

Michigan Auto Law uses data from Michigan State Police to rank the most dangerous intersections in the state each year. On Friday, Nov. 14, the rankings from 2024 were revealed.

Topping the list was Joy Road at the Southfield Freeway (M-39). The intersection had 78 crashes last year, an increase from previous years, with 27 injuries, showing a rise from prior figures.

Second was 7 Mile Road at I-75, which had 69 crashes, consistent with 2023, while injuries rose.

Any road with a traffic signal, a four-way stop, or a roundabout qualifies as an intersection. Crashes within 200 feet count toward an intersection’s total.

  • 78 total crashes, 27 injuries

#2 -- 7 Mile Road at I-75

  • 69 total crashes, 36 injuries

#3 -- Conner Street at Gratiot Avenue

  • 63 total crashes, 34 injuries

#4 -- 8 Mile Road at Dequindre Road

  • 61 total crashes, 23 injuries, one death

#5 -- 8 Mile Road at I-75

  • 61 total crashes, 17 injuries

#6 -- M-39 at Warren Avenue

  • 61 total crashes, 17 injuries

#7 -- Livernois Avenue at West Davison Street

  • 60 total crashes, 22 injuries

#8 -- Southfield Service Drive at West McNichols Road

  • 52 total crashes, 23 injuries

#9 -- Warren Avenue at I-75

  • 51 total crashes, 17 injuries

#10 -- Grand River Avenue at Telegraph Road

  • 47 total crashes, 14 injuries
