Dangerously cold wind chills expected as Metro Detroit enters prolonged freeze

Thursday highs in lower 20s; Friday highs in upper 20s

4Warn Weather – Metro Detroit is thrown into the freezer for the next couple of days, with no thaw in sight for a long time.

A few snow showers this evening and overnight, resulting in nothing more than a dusting to a half inch.

However, with temps below freezing, there could still be a few slick spots.

Thursday

Thursday morning brings lows in the teens with little rebound during the day.

Our high tops out at 22 degrees, well below our normal high of 41.

Most of the day, wind chills will be in the single digits.

Friday

Friday morning will be the coldest of the week with wind chills as low as 10 degrees below zero.

Weekend forecast

Weekend highs get back into the upper 20s to low 30s, but still a good 10 degrees below normal.

Next week

The next chance for measurable snow will be Tuesday into Wednesday.
