Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Oakland, Livingston counties

Warnings issued as thunderstorms move into SE Michigan

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Livingston and Oakland counties as storms move into Southeast Michigan.

Here are the active weather alerts:

  • Livingston County -- A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect until 6:30 p.m.
  • Oakland County -- A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect until 7 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, a severe thunderstorm was located near Fowlerville at about 5:30 p.m., moving east at 35 mph.

In addition to Fowlerville, Howell, Brighton, Parkers Corners, Plainfield, Island Lake State Recreation Area, Chilson, Conway Township, Tyrone Township and Deerfield Township are also impacted by the severe thunderstorm warning.

Quarter-size hail is possible in these areas, according to the National Weather Service.

The severe thunderstorm warning for Oakland County includes Holly, Oxford, Ortonville, Milford, Pontiac, Troy, Rochester Hills, Orchard Lake Village, The Village of Clarkston, Lake Orion and Leonard.
