Macomb Township man arrested, charged with possessing sexually abusive material of children
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A Macomb Township man has been arrested and charged after an investigation uncovered child sexually abusive material, according to the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office. Officials said a two-count warrant was issued for 42-year-old Michael Snay on aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and using computers to commit a crime, both of which are felonies. The sheriffโs office Macomb Area Computer Enforcement (MACE) team led the investigation, which began with a tip from the Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children unit. MACE received information that someone was posting sexually abusive images on the internet. Officials said a search warrant was conducted on Feb. 9 at Snayโs home, where laptops, electronic storage devices, pornographic magazines and child erotic stories were found.

Woman recalls helping 12-year-old boy in fiery crash in Shelby Township
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A Macomb Township man and his 12-year-old daughter were killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday in Shelby Township. A 12-year-old boy was injured in the crash. โI canโt imagine what that momโs going through, I canโt imagine getting that phone call. I canโt imagine losing a husband and child. โThe was just sobbing, just sobbing and I walked over to him and gave him a hug,โ she said.
Father, 12-year-old daughter killed in crash in Shelby Township
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A 45-year-old Macomb Township man and his 12-year-old daughter were killed in a crash in the area of 21 Mile Road and Van Dyke in Shelby Township. Shelby Township police and fire departments were dispatched at about 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday to a crash involving two vehicles. Police said one of the vehicles, a Dodge Ram, was engulfed in flames. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Dodge Ram was traveling northbound on Van Dyke, turning left onto 21 Mile Road when a commercial truck was southbound on Van Dyke, traveling through 21 Mile Road. Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash is asked to contact Traffic Services Bureau Sgt.
Rise in speeding drivers puts Macomb neighborhood children at risk, residents say
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Since the coronavirus pandemic began, one Metro Detroit neighborhood saw a dramatic rise in speeding vehicles. Drivers have used the Macomb Township neighborhood as a way to cut through, putting children and families at risk. โBut this feels like a main road.โLocal 4 Defenders set up a radar gun and caught drivers going way over the speed limit in the neighborhood filled with children. Residents said the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office was asked to patrol the area, but all they did was put up a device to track a vehicleโs speed. Since the Defenders began looking into the problem, the Sheriffโs Office reinstated the radar trailer in the subdivision to gather more data from speeders.

Weโre taking a closer look at how Metro Detroit voted for president in the Nov. 3 General Election. Detroitโs election turnout was 49.56% -- 250,138 total votes out of 504,714 registered voters. In Oakland County, Biden won with 56.36% of the vote -- 433,982 total votes for the Democrat. Macomb County was the lone member of the tri-county region to vote red -- 53.28% of the vote was for Trump in Macomb County (264,535 votes). It was the tightest of the three major Metro Detroit counties.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Macomb Township firefighter, Joe Warne, set off on a 140 mile walk to Grand Rapids on Thursday. โWe said, โHey, whatโs a good way to raise awareness and we can walk across the state in full gear. They started walking at 8 a.m., leaving from Macomb Township. The walk is to help Michigan firefighters who are battling cancer. If in the next four days you see firefighters walking, feel free to drop some cash in the bucket their holding.

Michigan governor vetoes measure she believes would endanger patients and workers'
Gretchen Whitmer vetoed Senate Bill 899, a measure sponsored by Senator Mike MacDonald, R-Macomb Township. Whitmer says she vetoed the bill to ensure that patients receive appropriate care during emergencies and disasters. I previously extended special liability protections for certain health care providers during the first peak of COVID-19 to ensure that hospitals did not become overwhelmed, preserving their ability to provide care, said Whitmer. Senate Bill 899 would endanger patients and workers unnecessarily, making it nearly impossible to obtain relief from injury during a state of emergency. As always, I will continue to work together with the legislature to protect Michiganders and their families during this crisis.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office is warning residents of a phone scammer targeting the area. Officials say there have been multiple recent reports of a caller posing as a member of the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office requesting money from residents in lieu of being arrested. The sheriffโs office says the phone calls are not legitimate and warns residents from giving away personal information or meeting up with the caller. Anyone who receives a scam call and is concerned is encouraged to visit the sheriffโs office to verify any arrest warrants in their name. Officials say the Macomb County Detective Bureau is investigating the scam phone calls.
Michigan coatings maker scales up to produce hand sanitizer
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A coatings manufacturing company in Macomb Township said it is scaling up its operations during the coronavirus pandemic to produce hand sanitizer. In an email to Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit on Tuesday, Allied PhotoChemical COO Mike Kelly said his business is considered essential/critical under the state order because its technology is used on every firefighterโs oxygen tank, diabetes medical strips, structural materials, and more. Allied wants the hand sanitizer to go to other local manufacturing and Michigan manufacturing companies to help make work environments safer. MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Police are looking for a 24-year-old man who was last seen in Detroit on Dec. 19. Joshua Leo was last seen in the area of Whittier and King Richard on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, at approximately 3 p.m. He never returned to his home located in the 21000 block of Montmorency South in Macomb Township. Joshua is described as a 24-year-old white man standing about 5 feet 11 inches and weighing about 230 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes, a goatee and a beard. He was last seen wearing a dark winter beanie hat, dark gray long sleeve shirt, black and red plaid coat, blue jeans and brown boots.
Man hits pedestrian with pickup truck in Macomb Township, flees scene
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Authorities in Macomb Township are looking for a man who hit a pedestrian and fled the scene Monday. According to the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office, a person was crossing the road in the area of 23 Mile and North Avenue at about 7 p.m. when they were hit by a pickup truck. The pedestrian was hit by an older model, single cab Dodge Ram. An American flag and yellow โdonโt tread on meโ flag were flying from the back of the truck bed. The driver is described as a white man with an average build, authorities said.
Macomb Township fire leaves family of 7, including newborn baby, homeless
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Seven people are without a home after their Macomb Township house caught fire Friday. โI was just sitting in the living room with my daughters watching a movie and I smelled something odd," Angelaca Jarubas said. โI went to open up the front door and I seen this side of the house was on fire,โ Jarubas said. The whole family made it out alive, but now they are without a home just days before Christmas. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family.

Macomb Township man accused of torturing, killing womanโs small dog
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A 27-year-old man has been charged after allegedly killing and torturing a small dog. She reported that Andrea Biondo also lived in the home and been the only one there when the small dog went missing. When he returned home he was placed under arrest and brought to the Macomb County Jail. โThis small animal stood no chance against this male and that is where the law steps in. This hateful behavior towards any living creature, animal or human, is unacceptable,โ Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said.
Authorities: Woman pushed down, robbed in Mount Clemens by man who said he just got out of jail
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. โ A Macomb Township man is facing charges after he allegedly pushed down a woman and stole her wallet Monday in Mount Clemens. Authorities said the 46-year-old victim was walking in the area of Elizabeth Road and Madison Avenue about 8:20 p.m. when Powell allegedly approached her asking for money. When she said she didnโt have any money, he said he was just released from jail and needed money. Powell allegedly walked up behind the woman, knocked her down, pinned her on the ground and stole her wallet, authorities said. The woman, who was uninjured, was able to give authorities a description of Powell.
