However, one woman said the issue still persists and is even impacting her business. DETROIT โ A leak in a water main caused water to slowly break away the soil base underneath a street in Detroit, eventually causing the pavement to cave. It is uncertain when the chunk of the intersection at Goddard and Dearing streets collapsed, but some neighbors said they saw it as early as 5:15 a.m. Monday. โWhen I had seen it this morning, I was shocked,โ said neighbor Fred Washington, who said he had seen the sinkhole at about 9 a.m. Monday. AdSometime after 5 p.m., at least 12 hours after it was first spotted, the first Detroit Water & Sewerage truck arrived to secure the area. A crew will be in the area all night to keep it secured and begin the underground pipe repair Tuesday morning.
Water main repair may disrupt service for some in Lathrup Village
LATHRUP VILLAGE, Mich. โ Repair work on a water main break Tuesday in Lathrup Village may impact service for some. City officials will turn water off Tuesday from 7 a.m. to noon as crews repair the break. Businesses in the area may experience service disruptions during repairs, but no residential areas are expected to be impacted. City officials are warning that occupants may experience discolored water for several hours after the repair has been completed. If you experience discolored water, officials recommend turning on the cold water faucet at the lowest level of the residence, closest to the water meter and letting the water run for about 10 minutes.

City of Belleville working to address water main break
BELLEVILLE, Mich. โ The city of Belleville is working to address a water main break at E. Huron River Drive between Bedell Street and Madelon Avenue. The city does not know exactly when the issue will be resolved, but repair efforts are underway. Water service may be temporarily stopped to make repairs. No boil water alert has been issued at this time. City officials are urging people to avoid the area.

SOUTH LYON, Mich. โ The South Lyon Police Department sent out an alert that thereโs a โmajor water main breakโ in the city. The water main break is in the area of Pontiac Trail and Dorothy Street, police said. Residents in the areas of Dorothy Street, Princeton Drive, University Avenue and Harvard Road are affected, according to authorities. Itโs unclear how long it will take crews to fix or replace the broken water main. No additional information was provided.
Water main break leaves dozens without power in Downtown Detroit
DETROIT โ A combination of heat and old infrastructure caused a Downtown Detroit road to buckle and a water main to break Saturday night. The water flooded the basement of the David Stott Building on Griswold Street, near Campus Martius, leaving dozens without power. It happened on Independence Day at about 10:30 p.m. A water main burst along Griswold Street between Michigan Avenue and State Street, flooding the intersection. Bedrock released the following statement:The Stott building is currently experiencing a power outage resulting from a water main break late Saturday evening. We are currently evaluating the extent of the damage and have reached out to all building residents as we assess necessary repairs.
Large water main break forms crater in Milan neighborhood
MILAN, Mich. โ A water main break on Thursday morning has formed a near-sinkhole in the middle of a Milan neighborhood. The City of Milan reported the large water main break at W. Main St. and Argyle Crescent. โDue to the size and severity of the break some residents in the area may be without water. Please avoid the area until further notice,โ the city said on their Facebook page. The cause of the break is not known.
Boil water advisory issued for Berlin Township residents
BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A boil water advisory has been issued for residents in Monroe Countyโs Berlin Township due to a water main break. In the advisory issued Wednesday morning, Berlin Township officials advise residents west of I-75 and west of Swan Creek Road, including Newport Road west of I-75, North Park, Newport Estates, Birchwood sub, Newport Woods and Newport Farms, are encouraged to boil water for the next three days or until further notice before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing fruits and vegetables. Residents and business might experience lower water pressure, a loss of water or discolored water from taps. The township said this boil water advisory is due to a water main break on Newport Road west of I-75. Local officials will notify the public when the advisory is lifted after repairs are made and proper testing has been completed, the township said.
SUV falls into sinkhole on Detroitโs west side
DETROIT โ A water main break on Detroitโs west side led to an unfortunate chain of events for one driver. Video captured at the scene Saturday shows an SUV that had fallen into a sinkhole on Dix Highway, between Shaefer Road and Oakwood Boulevard. The driver was not hurt. Information on why the water main broke and when it will be fixed has not been released.
Water main break reported on Vernor Road in Grosse Pointe Park
GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. โ Grosse Pointe Park police are reporting a water main break on Vernor between Somerset and Balfour. Crews will be working in the area beginning around 3:30 p.m. Friday and expect to continue into the early evening hours. Drivers are encouraged to take an alternate route.
