DETROIT – The details of Friday’s rain and snowfall in Metro Detroit are becoming more clear, including the timeline and accumulation.
Timeline: Rain switches to snow
Friday will begin with scattered showers, but then colder air starts to mix in shortly after lunch.
That’s when precipitation will change over to snow, taking place northwest to southeast.
The changeover shouldn’t last long, but there could be some freezing rain or a wintry mix during that period. It’s not expected to have much of an impact, if any.
Snow will continue until just after sunset.
Snowfall totals
This is not expected to be a major snowfall.
A light accumulation is possible, with some areas picking up less than an inch.
It’s possible some areas won’t get any accumulation at all.
