4Warn Weather – After light snow moved through parts of Southeast Michigan late Tuesday night into early Wednesday, Metro Detroit is turning the corner toward a milder stretch to close the week, but winter isn’t done yet.

Pistons fans leaving Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night will walk into temperatures in the lower 20s.

Then, overnight lows will dip into the teens across the region as cold air flows southward over the Great Lakes.

A few flurries will be possible across Southeast Michigan on Wednesday night.

Thursday features mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with lighter southwest winds and highs in the mid-30s.

By Friday, southwest winds increase ahead of a cold front, helping push afternoon highs into the lower 50s in Metro Detroit.

The breeze may gust at times, but dry air should keep conditions dry or snow-free through the end of the workweek.

The brief warmup will be noticeable. Friday’s temperatures will feel more like early spring than late February.

The milder weather may prompt early yard cleanup, car washes, and outdoor plans, but it will be short-lived.

This Weekend

Clouds increase on Saturday as the next weather system approaches. Daytime highs are expected to reach the lower to mid-40s in Metro Detroit, which is still slightly above normal, before colder air filters in late.

A chance of snow develops Saturday evening into Saturday night across Southeast Michigan.

Limited moisture in the atmosphere suggests minor accumulations, if any. However, temperatures will fall from the 40s during the day into the 20s Saturday night, which could allow wet surfaces to refreeze.

Travelers and anyone with evening plans should watch for slick spots, especially on untreated roads and sidewalks.

Sunday turns colder with highs dropping into the upper 20s to 30 degrees.

Monday remains below normal, with sunshine but brisk conditions and highs in the lower 30s.

Another system may bring a chance of rain or a rain-snow mix on Tuesday as temperatures rebound into the upper 30s to 40 degrees.

By Wednesday, highs will again reach the upper 40s, accompanied by breezy conditions.

The pattern reflects a typical late-winter transition: brief warm surges followed by reinforcing shots of cold air.

Prepare for fluctuating temperatures, melting during the day, and potential refreezing at night as February gives way to March.
