4Warn Weather – A few showers and thunderstorms will continue to move northeastward across parts of Southeast Michigan, bringing occasional chances for rain into Friday morning.
Not everyone will see rain, and many communities will spend more time dry than wet. Still, it is one of those patterns in which it will be a good idea to keep an umbrella nearby, especially if you have outdoor plans.
Thursday night
Showers and thunderstorms will remain scattered, with some downpours possible.
Temperatures will remain mild, with lows settling in the mid- to upper 60s.
Friday
Friday will bring a mixture of clouds and sunshine, with temperatures climbing into the lower 80s in the Thumb and mid-80s in Metro Detroit.
Humidity levels will remain elevated, allowing scattered showers and thunderstorms to redevelop during the afternoon and evening.
The atmosphere will contain enough instability to produce a few stronger storms capable of gusty winds up to 40 mph and intense rainfall.
However, other atmospheric ingredients remain limited, which should help keep the overall severe weather threat relatively low.
Saturday
Skies will become partly sunny Saturday, and highs will climb into the mid- to upper 80s.
While a few scattered showers or thunderstorms could develop during the afternoon, many neighborhoods should remain dry for much of the day.
If you have outdoor plans, Saturday morning and early afternoon currently look like the most favorable time frame.
Sunday
Sunday will begin with sunshine and seasonable temperatures before another round of scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms develops.
Rain coverage should remain fairly limited, meaning outdoor events will still have opportunities to continue uninterrupted between passing showers.
Monday through Wednesday
The forecast has several storm systems tracking through the Great Lakes next week.
Periods of showers and thunderstorms remain possible Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
At this point, confidence remains much higher in the overall pattern than in the exact timing and location of the heaviest rain.
What this means for weekend plans
- Friday: Keep indoor backup plans ready for the afternoon and evening.
- Saturday: The best opportunity for outdoor activities, although an isolated shower remains possible.
- Sunday: Expect another low chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
- Early next week: Plan for additional interruptions from scattered rain and thunderstorms.
The good news is that temperatures will remain comfortable, with highs generally holding in the lower to mid-80s through much of the coming week.
