The weather turns much wetter this weekend as a low-pressure system approaches from the Plains. Widespread showers and rain return Saturday, continuing into Saturday night and Sunday morning. A prolonged period of rain is expected, with numerous heavier showers and scattered thunderstorms possible within the larger area of rainfall. Total rainfall of 0.5 to 1.5 inches is likely, while there is a slight chance of 2 to 3 inches in some localized spots. The combination of heavy rain and saturated urban areas could lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying and poor-drainage areas. Temperatures will also turn cooler this weekend, with highs on either side of 70 degrees.
