A winter storm is expected to bring snow to Michigan on Wednesday and Thursday.
Snow forecast for Southeast Michigan
This could bring 4-7 inches of snow to Southeast Michigan. A winter storm watch was issued for most of Southeast Michigan for Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, but that has since been upgraded to a winter weather advisory for most areas.
The following areas have been upgraded to a winter weather advisory:
- western counties where 3-5 inches of snow is expected
- southern counties where 2-4 inches of snow is expected
According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm watch is still in effect for areas where 6+ inches of snow is possible.

The heaviest snowfall is expected to begin around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and will continue through about 4 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.
By the time the storm ends, we will see a wide range of snow totals. Parts of Monroe County will get around 2 inches of snow, while areas north of I-69 are expected to get over 7 inches.
The majority of areas in Metro Detroit will get 3-6 inches of snow.

Snow forecast for Southwest Michigan and Mid-Michigan
Most areas of Southwest Michigan are also expected to get around 4-8 inches of snow during this storm.
Snow could fall up to one inch per hour on Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Snowfall forecast for Upper Michigan
Northern lower Michigan and eastern upper Michigan are expected to see 4-6 inches of snow, depending on the area.
The National Weather Service says the highest snowfall amounts are expected closer to Lake Huron and Saginaw Bay, where there could be 6+ inches of snow through Thursday morning.
