Early fall feel settles into Metro Detroit before summer warmth returns this weekend

Rain chances possible this weekend.

If you’ve been waiting for a break from the heat, humidity and smoke, today is your day. Metro Detroit will enjoy weather that feels more like early fall than late summer, thanks to a refreshing air mass that has settled across Southeast Michigan. Expect mostly sunny skies, noticeably lower humidity, and a brisk breeze throughout the day. Afternoon temperatures will only reach the mid-70s, making today the coolest day of the week and nearly 10 degrees below average for this time of year.

The pleasant weather continues Thursday with dry conditions and temperatures remaining below seasonal averages. While still comfortable, temperatures will begin a gradual warming trend heading into the end of the work week, climbing a few degrees each afternoon.

The next opportunity for rain holds off until Saturday night into Sunday, with another round of showers possible late Sunday into Monday as the next weather system moves through the Great Lakes. Despite those rain chances, temperatures will rebound nicely this weekend. and there looks to be plenty of dry windows to get outside. Afternoon highs will return to the 80s, bringing back more typical late-summer warmth while humidity remains at manageable levels.
