DETROIT – A story, which dropped in Politico, is claiming Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer called the Biden campaign on Friday, and told them she hated how her name was being floated as a possible replacement for the sitting president.
But here’s the kicker, the report also claims she told them Michigan is no longer winnable for Biden after his debate performance.
Well, the governor is calling B.S. on that, sending out this tweet.
Anyone who claims I would say that we can’t win Michigan is full of shit. Let’s go. https://t.co/1K5E6K7rJu pic.twitter.com/04c3vGfhO5

Pollster Richard Czuba says he doesn’t believe she said anything of the sort.
“I think there is more manure in that story than you’d find on Mackinac Island,” Czuba said, for the simple reason Whitmer is no stranger to how polling works.
“She’s a seasoned professional who believes and follows polling, you would not have good polling in one day and I don’t believe she’d make that assessment period because she knows Michigan is such a close state.”
What it does show is Whitmer’s name is very top of mind and a threat to other potential candidates in the next election cycle.
