Books, flowers, and eclipses are all happening around the D this weekend

Ready to make some weekend plans?

Time to look ahead to the weekend and there are plenty of big events happening around the D. You can shop for books, flowers, and even see an eclipse. Check it out:

Bookstock: The event returns to Laurel Park Place beginning Sunday, May 15 and runs through Sunday, May 22. You can shop tables and tables of used books and media. There will also be a table outside for those who do not feel comfortable shopping indoors. You never know what you can find, so check it out.

Flower Day at Eastern Market: This event brings thousands of people downtown every year. You can look through more than 15 acres of flowers grown in Southeast Michigan and around the Midwest. There will also be food trucks and other Eastern Market vendors on hand. This happens Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Lunar eclipse viewing party: The moon is going to disappear on Sunday night and you have a chance to attend a special event to see it happen. The Cranbrook Institute of Science is hosting a viewing party of the lunar eclipse. Guests will be able to see the eclipse through telescopes, have an all access pass to the Cranbrook Observatory, and there will be activities planned inside the museum. This starts at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and runs until 12 a.m. Monday morning. Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

Halfway to Halloween: Can you believe it? Tomorrow is Friday the 13th and you can celebrate being Halfway to Halloween with some scares at Canterbury Village. Phryte Village is tomorrow night from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. and includes three haunted attractions - Phryte Manor, Phryte Wing, and Phryte Garden. Prices vary depending on if you want to visit one haunted attraction or all three.
