A fashion designer who once called Metro Detroit home is helping students at his former high school have the prom of their dreams.
Johnny Wujek has styled stars like Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Britney Spears, and the Kardashians. Now, he’s teamed up with JCPenney for a special prom collection.
“I wanted this to be something that was affordable, accessible, and exciting and celebratory,” Wujek explained. “Prom is like the Grammys or the Oscars for high school kids.”
Wujek, who graduated from Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores, came back to town to surprise his former school with a 50-thousand dollar check from JCPenney to have their dream prom. He explained that students will get to go to prom for free and bring a guest for free.
