Earth Day events and more happen this weekend

There is a lot for just about everyone to do this weekend in Metro Detroit

As you prepare to make plans for the weekend, here are a few events to help you out.

First up, the city of Detroit is getting revved up for the NFL Draft next weekend, and some events are kicking off now. The Detroit Dye House is getting in on the action with multiple tie dye experiences with sport themes. Tonight, the shop will celebrate the Lions and visitors can create their own custom apparel. They will also host drop-in and dye events draft weekend, April 25-28. The shop is located on Michigan Ave. in Detroit’s Corktown Neighborhood.

Next, an event for the grown ups. As the sun goes down, The Michigan Science Center will transform into the 21 and over, after dark experience. This years event will have a “Space Love” theme, and will feature science fiction themed activities, specialty cocktails, performances and more. The event happens Saturday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m..

Here’s an event for the entire family. The Farmington Hills Youth Theatre presents “Willy Wonka Jr. the Musical.” The production tells the classic story of the beloved candy maker and runs tonight through Sunday at the Hawk Theatre, Farmington Hills.

Monday is Earth Day, and several communities are planning events. In Detroit, clean up events are taking place throughout the city, including the Dequindre Cut and Eliza Howell Park on Saturday. Rouge Park will host a clean up day on Sunday, and O’Hair Park on Monday. Clean up will continue next weekend as well.
