You can try a forest to table dinner experience

Event will be held Saturday in Bloomfield Hills

You’ve probably heard the term “farm to table”, which might have you thinking of freshly grown vegetables from a local farm that turned into a crisp salad at a restaurant. However, there is a unique event in Bloomfield Hills that’s sharing a “forest to table” experience with diners.

Guests at the Forest to Table Strolling Dinner will taste a seven-course dinner with ingredients that are native and invasive to the local community. The meals are being prepared by two chefs from local farm-to-table restaurants, Chef Chris Gadulka from Sylvan Table and Chef Johnny Prepolec from Alchemi.

The concept for the dinner came to life when Chef Gadulka said the Johnson Nature Center in Bloomfield Hills reached out to him because they wanted to know what they could do with the invasive plants that volunteers pull. Chef Gadulka said this innovative dinner experience helps reduce some of the invasive species while promoting what you can do with nature in Michigan.

Some of the ingredients that will be served during the event are local mushrooms, dandelions greens, and purslane, just to name a few.

The Forest to Table Strolling Dinner will be held Saturday, Sept. 14th at Johnson Nature Center in Bloomfield Hills. The event is a fundraiser for the nature center. Tickets can be purchased online.
