Detroit filmmaker shares inspiring story of survival

He‘s getting out the important message of men’s health awareness

Detroit Producer and filmmaker Paris Jones is currently working on a crime, suspense drama filmed in Michigan, but a real life journey he‘s been battling brought him to get out an important message.

“I was healthy, going to the gym, thought I was invincible... until one day I sneezed, and shattered my whole back,” Jones said.

He said a CAT scan would reveal he had Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer. Not having gone to the doctor in almost 20 years prior to this, Jones said this was a wake up call to pay attention to his health.

Prior to this diagnoses he said there were signs and red flags, but he ignored them. Jones is still undergoing treatment for the illness he‘s battled since 2019, and said despite it all, he‘s still going strong with his films.

With November being Movember, a movement that’s been happening for years to get men to face their health issues, and get themselves checked out mentally and physically, Jones is encouraging men to do just that.
