Winter fun happen all around the D this weekend

Here’s a list of happenings this weekend in Metro Detroit

It’s Friday, and that means it’s time to check out some of the fun events happening around metro Detroit.

First, a cool event is going to heat up the Detroit Riverwalk. The Winter at Valade season, kicks off this weekend with the Fire and Ice Festival. The medieval themed event features ice carving competitions, live music, entertainment, food, drinks, ax throwing, and a 7 foot ice tower will be set ablaze. There will also be characters in renaissance attire making special appearances. The fun starts Friday at 5 p.m. and runs through Sunday at Valade Park in Downtown Detroit.

Next, it’s the third annual Pontiac Winter Fest. The event will feature winter activities like ice skating, s’mores, and a polar express train. Plus, there will be shopping, food, and more. The fest is happening Saturday 5p.m. to 8p.m. on the grounds of city hall in Pontiac.

Next, grab you pole and bait, it’s time to go fishing. The Ultimate Fishing Show returns to Novi. The event will have just about everything for anglers of all ages. The show features 7 acres of fun including gear, demos, boats, a 5,000 gallon aquarium, and trout pond where guests can catch and release, or take the fish home. The show runs January 9-12 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.
