The Lions game isn’t all that’s happening around the D this weekend. There’s plenty on tap, like the Bavarian Winterfest at Blakes. This first of its kind at the farm event will feature German inspired fun like, polka, sauerkraut making, authentic dishes, live music and more. It’s happening Saturday 12p.m. till 7p.m. in Armada.
This weekend could be a perfect one to hit the ice. The award winning rink at Campus Martius is in full swing, and if you’ve never been, it’s a must do in the city. The rink is open daily, including holidays through March 2, in downtown Detroit.
On Monday, the nation will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and there are events taking place throughout Metro Detroit. On Sunday, the community is invited to the United We Walk event in West Bloomfield. The 31st annual march will take place in or outdoors, depending on the weather. The march starts at 2 p.m. with children activities to follow at West Bloomfield Middle School.
In Southfield, the 40th annual MLK peace walk will take place on Monday. The march starts at 9 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, followed by a program at 11 a.m. at the Southfield Pavilion.
Also on Monday, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History will hold its annual MLK celebration. The all day event will include film screenings, workshops, storytelling, a treasure hunt, and much more. The celebration is free and open to the public. It runs from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
