The Lunar New Year, or Chinese New Year as it’s also known as, is today. This marks the start of a 15 day celebration of the Year of the Snake, and there’s a special event at the main branch of the Detroit Public Library where the whole family can take part.
“There’s going to be a lot of different crafts people can make, one will be a little snake clothes pin,” said Erin Durrett, Assistant Manager of the Children’s Library. “This is the year of the snake, it’s the Chinese Zodiac, and every 12 years there’s an animal,” she said.
The event is happening on Saturday, February 1.
