With February being Black History Month, many stories of prominent figures are told but the history of Ruby McCollum is one that isn’t told as often. This new musical about her strives to display her story.
The musical “Ruby” recounts the life of Ruby McCollum, a woman who stood trial for murdering a white doctor in 1952. The show sheds light on the unexpected reality of this historical time.
“Everything is not what it seems. We need each other down here on this planet. No matter race, color, creed, social bracket, it doesn’t matter. We need one another.” said Catara Brae, the actor who plays Ruby in the musical.
Live in the D is also giving away 4 free tickets to the show this weekend. To enter click here.
