A singer from Michigan is hoping to show the world that she has what it takes to be the next big star as she competes on “The Voice”.
Season 27 of the singing competition is underway on NBC and a young singer from Newaygo is already turning heads and chairs. Iris Herrera performed a rendition of “You Are My Sunshine” during the Blind Auditions and coaches John Legend, Michael Bublé and Kelsea Ballerini all turned their chairs to signal that they wanted to add Iris to their team. After all was said and done, Iris chose to join Team Kelsea.
“I’ve known for a long time that I have this gift and I have this power and I love this, and so it’s really cool to have other people who are literal like legends and OGs recognizing that and acknowledging that. It’s a pretty euphoric feeling,” Iris said.
The Blind Auditions continue on “The Voice” Monday at 8 p.m. on NBC. Be sure to stay tuned in this season to see what happens next for Michigan’s own Iris Herrera.
