Winter fun, poetry, and a beloved character show all happening this weekend

Here’s a list of fun happenings around Detroit

Valentine’s Day is just a day away, and if you’re looking to get out and enjoy the holiday, there’s something for just about everyone happening in and around Detroit this weekend.

If you like ice skating, Disney is coming to town. Disney on Ice presents “Let’s Dance!”. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy, have all become DJ’s who remix Disney tunes that tell a story. The show runs through Sunday at Little Caesars Arena.

Next up, love is in the air, and if you’re sill making Valentine’s Day plans, maybe check out some poetry, comedy, open mic, and more. The “Love Poems Live” event will feature poetry, music, plus comedy by Detroiter T-Barb. The event happens Friday at 7 p.m. at the Detroit Public Theatre.

Next, the mall at Partridge Creek transforms into a winter wonderland. The “Winterfest” will feature ice carvings, fire and ice stilt walkers, a live DJ, face painting, treats, and more. It’s happening Saturday from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. in Clinton Township.

Lastly, the Monster Energy Supercross races into town. The competitive off road motorcycle racing event starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday, with the opening ceremonies at 2:30 p.m..
