February is all about fixing your pet

Expert gives advice on spaying and neutering your pet

Whether you just got a new pet, or you’ve had one for a while, spaying and neutering your pet is an important part of pet health. Michigan Humane shared reasons why the process can be beneficial.

“Shelters everywhere are full so if we’re spaying and neutering pets, it’s preventing more potentially unwanted litters from coming into the community and possibly shelters as well,” Lidia Vesterfelt said.

Other reasons listed to fix your pet were:

  • Helping with negative behaviors
  • Keeping your pet healthy
  • Preventing unwanted litters
  • Helping with overpopulation issues with pets
