Making something out of nothing

A fun children’s activity to spark creativity and learning

Children love to craft things together so why not make it a chance for learning? Arts and Scraps is a Detroit business that takes scraps from classrooms and creates a space where children can make art. The projects are not only creative but also have a hint of science with them. Many of the projects explore different scientific categories like animals.

“One of the coolest things we’ve seen is that as we’ve been able to expand our programming into year-round, students really come excited to learn whether it’s because of that creativity or because of that science,” said Anj Adamiak, executive director of Arts and Scraps.

The business has goals of promoting creativity while helping be sustainable. They hold family and individual events throughout the year.
