Trends and fashion have been influenced by many people and cultures throughout history. Jon Jordan joined “Live in the D” to talk about how Black history has helped shape style.
“Back in the 20s and 30s, there was a jazz orchestra leader named Cab Calloway. He was the champion of something called the Zoot suit, and the Zoot suit was a really fine men’s tailoring but with exaggerated proportions. So it was, you know, big shoulders and big lapels. This actually became a kind of cultural thing for Hispanic and Filipino men,” said Jon Jordan.
