Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, the last day of the pre-Lenten season in the Christian faith, and it is marked by a day of indulgence prior to 40 days that include fasting and abstinence ahead of Easter. Mardi Gras is held on every Fat Tuesday in New Orleans, but this celebration goes nationwide and something is being planned in Southfield tomorrow. It’s called The Mardi Crawl, and Solana Shelner and Bri Olive with Cornbread Restaurant & Bar appeared on “Live In The D” to explain what’s happening.
“We wanted to showcase the restaurants in Southfield, just to make sure people know where we are and they can come see us,” said Shellner, Operations Manager at Cornbread Restaurant & Bar. “Mardi Crawl has got five awesome restaurants, including Cornbread, but we’ve also got Bar North, Salt & Co., Starters, and BLVD.”
The goal is to have people experience the food and drinks from each of the restaurants. Tickets provide unlimited access to a party bus that will loop between the establishments where you can enjoy various festivities.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. Tuesday. It is a 21+ event and participants are encouraged to dress Mardi Gras friendly. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
