In Your Neighborhood: Getting to know St. Clair Shores, why residents love it

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.Local 4 News is getting out of the studio and hitting the road to be In Your Neighborhood! We’re showcasing what makes our communities great!

During our In Your Neighborhood special this week in St. Clair Shores, we asked leaders and resident what they loved the most about their community.

St. Clair Shores City Councilmember (and Mayor Pro Tem) Candice Rusie told us she’s proud of the new playscapes in parks around the city, the growing micro/macro brewing scene, the Civic Arena and the community’s willingness to give back.

“I’m proud to say St. Clair Shores is homebase to a lot of local charities - we have the non-profit center at Pare Elementary that houses programs like Gilda’s Club, Kids on the Go, and Big Family (right off of 9 Mile behind Encore), Bernadette’s Faith, Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids, Motor City Mitten Mission, 4 Paws 1 Heart,” Rusie said.

We asked Insiders to share some things they love:

“St Clair Shores is a gem. The community is amazing. The police and firefighters love and care for our city. The parks and recs team have ongoing events to bring the community together and celebrate local businesses. Access to Lake St Clair. Amazing restaurants and shops.
