EASTPOINTE, Mich. – Police revealed what they found while arresting six children linked to car thefts in Macomb County.

Eastpointe officers were called around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, to the 15000 block of Charles R Street because three people were looking into a car parked in a driveway.

When police arrived, the trio ran to a silver Hyundai and sped off. The Hyundai had a broken back window and no license plate.

Officers found the car on North Park Avenue near Grove Avenue. They tried to pull it over, but it fled, according to police.

The Hyundai crashed in the area of 10 Mile Road and Saxony Avenue. Six teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17 got out and ran away, officials said.

All six were taken into custody. Nobody was injured.

Police said the Hyundai had been reported as stolen.

Officers found two semi-automatic handguns, marijuana, ski masks, and gloves while making the arrests.

Macomb County prosecutors are reviewing the case and will issue charges. An Eastpointe attorney will be consulted on whether parents can be held accountable in this case, according to a release.
