Father of Oxford school shooter threatens prosecutor in profanity-laced jailhouse phone calls

James Crumbley considers himself a martyr

OXFORD, Mich. – When Judge Cheryl Matthews gave both Jennifer and James Crumbley the maximum sentence, she did so because the couple failed to take any responsibility for what their son did the day he went on a murderous shooting rampage at Oxford High School.

Now, jailhouse tapes of James ranting his hate about the prosecutor also show insight into how he views himself and the case.

Oxford shooter’s parents get 10-15 years in prison for roles in massacre, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald wrote that James views himself as a martyr, which he says multiple times on the jailhouse tapes.

“You know, I kind of feel like a martyr or martra, however you want to pronounce it,” said James. “It’s (expletive) if they allow this stupid (expletive) to do to us what she’s trying to do based on nothing there’s, no, here’s the thing: she never did any type of investigation before they charged us.”

“They’re trying to blame it all on us,” James said. “They’re trying to say none of it should have happened because of you. It’s just too (expletive) ridiculous it wasn’t us, it wasn’t us it was the (expletive) school.”

Most of the multiple diatribes against the prosecutor are nothing but strings of profanity.

“Go ahead and report this call,” James said. “Send it to Karen McDonald, tell her how James Crumbley is going to (expletive) take her down; she will not have a law license when I’m done with her.”

James, on one of the clearer portions of the calls, said:

“When I get out of here, I am (expletive) going on a rampage, Karen, yes Karen McDonald, your ass is going down, and you better be (expletive) scared.”
