DETROIT – A shooting on Detroit’s west side has led to a barricaded gunman situation.
The incident occurred on Tuesday (April 30) at 1:36 p.m. in the 9100 block of Carlin Street, where officers found a victim shot three times.

Officials say the victim was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“The victim was found shot three times in their lower extremities and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” said Detroit police Deputy Chief Arnold Williams.

Witnesses say the shooter ran into a home where he barricaded himself inside the residence.
“At this time, we talked to a witness who stated that the individual who fired the shots ran into the house,” Williams said. “Officers got to the house and secured the location and, at that point, declared a barricaded gunman.”
Police are asking all neighbors in the 9100 block of Carlin Street to remain inside their homes and everybody in the Schaefer Highway and Westfield Street area to be patient as they barricade the area, which will cause traffic obstacles.
The Metropolitan Police Division, a special response team, crisis negotiators, and their CIT teams are on the scene to try to resolve the incident.
